ARMENIAN BUSINESSES SHOULD ABANDON PERSONAL LEADERSHIP, MANFRED FR KETS DE VRIES

YEREVAN, October 14. / ARKA /. Armenian businesses should abandon the
principle of personal leadership, Manfred FR Kets de Vries, the founder
of INSEAD graduate business school and president of KDVI leadership
development consulting company, told Armenian journalists on Tuesday.

"Armenia has strong leaders, which comes from autocratic leadership
in ancient Armenia and also in the Soviet period, leaving its mark
on leadership," he said at a leadership skills development master
class organized by Ameria Group of Companies.

He said it is desirable that Armenian business people adopt the
Mediterranean type of business organization system, in which the
focus is on the network leadership principle.

"You need to be able to create different teams, including through
virtual management without a single leader, but it is difficult in
Armenia, where preference is given to personal directors or managers.

The so-called mixed type of control prevails in Armenia, which can
be called as 'neo-patriarchal management system.' But there are some
positive trends as well and what is to be done is to be more open
and communicative," said Manfred FR Kets de Vries.

He noted that the leadership has several fundamental bases - the
ability to assess oneself for rational decision-making, the ability
    to get maximum results from subordinates; to overcome arrogance;
also teamwork and productive and easy atmosphere in the team.

According to INSEAD management professor Elisabet Engellau, the course
initiated by Ameria Group of Companies should help the participants
develop ambitions and a vision of future and learn also how to build
personal or professional relationships in the team.

In turn, Ameria Group of Companies development director Tigran
Jrbashyan said the company is actively investing in the development
of its team and has the opportunity to invite the world's best experts
    in the field of leadership.

"This is the second such event, we have had and the results are very
impressive - the team is inspired by communicating with the best world
experts, which contributes to the development of the business. Expert
advice is being actively put into practice and radically changes the
perception of the goals of teamwork, having a good impact on the work,
helping to change the mindset of employees, which is very important
    in team work," said Jrbashyan.

Professor Manfred FR Kets de Vries is conducting "2014 Leadership
Challenges" master classes for senior and middle managers of Ameria
Group of Companies and its partners.

Ruben Vardanyan, founder-partner of Moscow Skolkovo School
of Management and Vice President of the International Advisory
Board, Nubar Afeyan, a senior management lecturer at Sloan School
of Management of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Gor
Nahapetyan from Skolkovo School of Management, Robert von Rekowski,
Fidelity Investment portfolio manager and some others shared their
    experience in leadership skills development.

Ameria Group of Companies are among the most aggressively developing
institutions in the Armenian market, providing professional legal and
management services, investment advice and implementation of business
projects, as well as financial and banking services. -0-
