EXPERT: NEGATIVE BALANCE OF LAKE SEVAN WILL LEAD TO SHARP WORSENING OF THE WATER QUALITY

The negative balance of Lake Sevan will lead to sharp worsening of the
water quality, the head of the Association "For stable development",
Karine Danielyan, told Arminfo correspondent.
According to assessment of Hydroecology Centre under Emergency
Situations Ministry of Armenia, at the end of 2014, a negative balance
9-12 sm will be fixed at the Lake Sevan because of unfavorable climate
and weather conditions.
The tendency of decrease of the level of Sevan will have negative
consequences, she said. "It means decrease of transparency and oxygen
content in the water as well as raising of the water temperature,
which in its turn will lead to breaking of the entire ecosystem of
Sevan", - Danielyan said.
"Fluctuation of the water level is fateful. We shall have sharp
worsening of the water quality because of the negative balance", -
she added.
