10:26 * 16.10.14
The paper says it has learned from sources that Armenian Prime
Minister Hovik Abrahamyan is planning a trip to Iran in the near
future to negotiate a gas supply deal for the border villages and
towns of Syunik.
Though an earlier posted official statement has been removed from
the Government's website, the paper claims that the visit remains on
the agenda.
The tour promises to be very interesting, especially against the
backdrop of Armenia's membership in the Eurasian Economic Union. What
particularly strikes attention is that it is the premier's second
ever visit to a country of strategic importance, says the paper.
It claims further that the premier will spare no effort to return
the nimble-minded Iranian businessmen to Armenia, especially those
doing business in caramel trading.
As for the natural gas issue, the paper says that they talks probably
address the possibility of increasing the alternative gas supply
volumes from the Islamic Republic to resolve the everlasting shortage
in the southern region.
