Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov said today, commenting
on the upcoming meeting of Azerbaijani and Armenian Presidents Ilham
Aliyev and Serzh Sargsyan in Paris on October 27, that Azerbaijan
was ready to negotiate a peace treaty with Armenia.
The minister noted that there were proposals on organizing
bilateral working groups to consider withdrawal of forces from the
Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone, return of refugees to their lands and
restoration of infrastructure. Mammadyarov added that Azerbaijan was
awaiting a response from the Armenian community.
The diplomat urged co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group to put maximum
efforts into release of Azerbaijani citizens detained in the Kalbajar
District. Azerbaijan insists that they were civilians, not saboteurs.
