CONSTRUCTION IN YEREVAN ALIENATED AREA UNDER PREMIER'S CONTROL - PRESS OFFICE
YEREVAN, October 17./ARKA/. Armenia's premier has got the construction
situation in alienated zone in Yerevan under control, the press office
of the premier reported.
Private house residents who received no compensation for their
demolished houses held a spontaneous protest yesterday and demanded
a meeting with the premier. The area of the private houses was said
to be of public interest: the houses were demolished in 2008, and
a new building was to be built instead. The residents were promised
compensations or apartments in the new building, but none was done,
the residents said.
Premier Hovik Abrahamyan received on Thursday residents of various
districts in Yerevan whose houses were within the alienated area.
The head of the government took note of all resident complaints. Head
of Glendel Hills company dealing with construction in the alienated
zone Vahe Yaghubyan provided his comments on the issues.
Abrahamyan stressed the importance of completing construction and
documentation by the contractor according to the schedule.
The premier assured residents he will stay focused on residents'
