Nothing extraordinary in trio's rally - Vazgen Manukyan

    13:01 * 19.10.14

President of the Public Council of Armenia Vazgen Manukyan does not
see anything extraordinary in the three non-coalition forces' rally
    held on October 10.

"We have seen so many rallies over the last 25 years that it was a
usual rally for me. I have seen hundreds of such rallies," Mr Manukyan
    told Tert.am.

"The opposition was naturally expected to hold a rally. However, their
promises are unrealistic. I think the opposition shouldered
responsibility it can hardly relieve itself of now. The same thing
happened for years: the opposition promises something which does not
    happen, and people are disappointed."

With respect to the trio's demand for a change of power, Mr Manukyan said:

"I do not consider the demand either beneficial or realistic. So such
demands are nothing but attempts to please the people, especially the
excited sections of the population. However, they do not contain any
    solutions."

As regards the trio-promised further rallies, Mr Manukyan believes
that considerable sections of Armenia's population are dissatisfied
with the authorities, which is natural.

"This is the basis for the opposition element. However, experience
shows that tension can be caused immediately after the elections," he
    said.

With respect to public and political figure Ashot Manucharyan's
statement on the trio's "serious status, Mr Manukyan said:

"There has been opposition, with worthy and influential members, over
the last 25 years. People have made promises making use of popular
discontent. But the promises have not been kept, with people
disappointed. People hope for changes during elections, but changes
    never happen."
