ARAM MANUKYAN SAYS HE IS IGNORANT OF THE FINALE OF THE RALLY

I do not think that there are people in Armenia who do not want to
change the authorities in the country, with the exception of several
officials, Aram Manukyan, Secretary of the Armenian National Congress
(HAK) faction said during today's parliamentary briefings speaking
about the main demand of the three opposition forces.
He stressed that today's rally will be attended by people and political
forces that 'are not connected with political threads;' rather they
have completely different approaches.
"There will be entirely new people, who have nothing to do with
politics. Like a man at death's door who feels the revival of his
inner resources, these people will attend the rally as they also feel
the need for changes. We also feel great responsibility and our demand
will be much more aggressive," he said.
Mr Manukyan says today the public demand for a change of government
is much stronger than it was many years ago. "Years ago we expected a
rapid change of power, whereas the situation is quite opposite: the
social demand is more urgent that we can satisfy. It is our desire
that the forces be distributed evenly and the transfer of power took
place without shocks. I do not know anything about the final statement
of the opposition leaders, and no one knows. After consultation the
leaders will come to a consensus."
The HAK representative says today's rally will differ from the
October 10 rally. "It is very important that we prevent clashes and
disappointments. We have always avoided provocations. When you deal
with large masses you should always observe the rules of platform.
Seeing the number of people, information, people and holding
consultations, the leaders are taking steps according to the programs.
Like the people in Armenia, I also want to change the authorities
in the country. We all have the same goal; we only need to use our
resources correctly."
