ARMENIAN PRESIDENT VISITS SENATE, LOWER HOUSE

Amman, Oct. 29 (Petra) Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan praised
Jordanian-Armenian ties and pointed to his talks with His Majesty
King Abdullah II today that aimed at forging closer ties between the
two countries in various domains.
During a visit to the Senate on Wednesday where he met with Senate
President Abdul Raouf Rawabdeh, the Armenian President highlighted
the strong ties between his country and Arab and Islamic countries
as well as the keenness to further enhance them in various fields.
Parliamentarians could play a significant role in enhancing relations
between countries, adding that Armenia is interested in promoting
parliamentary ties with the Kingdom, he said.
Rawabdeh, on his part, stressed the importance of this visit in
bolstering relations between the two friendly countries.
The Armenian President and the accompanying delegation also visited
the Lower House of Parliament where he met with House Speaker Atef
Tarawneh and a number of deputies.
He welcomed the formation of a Jordanian-Armenian friendship committee
which he said will have positive impact on relations between the
two countries.
The Armenian President and the House speaker reviewed
Jordanian-Armenian ties and ways to further boost them, mainly in the
parliamentary field in addition to the current situation in the region.
President Sargsyan said his visit to the Kingdom will contribute to
strengthening ties between the two countries.
Tarawneh spoke about reforms being implemented by Jordan in various
fields in addition to the burden shouldered by Jordan as a result of
hosting Syrian refugees.
