    Baku, Azerbaijan, Sept. 10
    By Ilkin Izzet - Trend:

Representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross came
to see an Armenian citizen who recently crossed the border in the
Gazakh region of Azerbaijan, ICRC Azerbaijani Office Head, Ilaha
    Huseynova told Trend Sept. 10.

"The ICRC representatives came to see the detainee on Sept.8,"
    she said.

She stressed that the ICRC representatives informed the Armenian
government about their visit to the detainee's family members.

Fifty-three year old Armenian citizen Sarkis Ananyan illegally crossed
the state border of Azerbaijan on Aug. 26.

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988
when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan.

As a result of the ensuing war, in 1992 Armenian armed forces occupied
20 percent of Azerbaijan, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and
    seven surrounding districts.

The two countries signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The co-chairs
of the OSCE Minsk Group, Russia, France and the U.S. are currently
    holding peace negotiations.

Armenia has not yet implemented four U.N. Security Council resolutions
on the liberation of the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding regions.
