Yerevan Brandy Company completes purchasing grapes in Ararat Valley
YEREVAN, September 27. /ARKA/. Yerevan Brandy Company has completed
this year's purchase of grapes in Ararat Valley, the company's press
office reported on Saturday.
The company's branches in Ararat and Armavir provinces purchased as
much grapes as planned - 33,000 tons together - paying money to the
winegrowers' personal bank accounts, while its branch in Tavush
province continues buying grapes and intends to wrap it up by October
3 after getting more than 4,000 tons, as planned.
Yerevan Brandy Company is going to hit its record high this year by
purchasing 37,000 tons against the unprecedented 35,000 tons bought in
2013.
This year winegrowers are selling grapes at 150 drams for one kilogram
to branches in Armavir and Ararat and at 140 drams to Tavush
province's branch instead of the previous year's 145 and 135 drams
respectively.
Yerevan Brandy Company is exclusive producer of ARARAT brandy and the
largest taxpayer of this area and purchaser of grapes.
In 1999, it joined Pernod Ricard international group, whose portfolio
includes well-known brands, such as Chivas (Scotch whiskey), Absolut
(Sweden vodka), Martell (French cognac) and Jameson (Irish whiskey).
