UITE: ARMENIA TO CONSIDER OPPORTUNITIES OF EXPORTING HIGH-TECH PRODUCTS TO EURASIAN ECONOMIC UNION COUNTRIES
YEREVAN, April 2. /ARKA/. Armenia will consider opportunities of
exporting high-tech products to other members of the Eurasian Economic
Union, Karen Vardanyan, executive director of the Union of Information
Technology Enterprises, said on Thursday.
He was quoted by Novosti-Armenia as saying that after Armenia joined
the Eurasian Economic Union things in the country's IT sector showed
no signs of significant changes, since the country exported only
software and faced no customs difficulties.
Vardanyan said that Armenia's accession to the union that removes
customs barriers will allow Armenian IT companies to shift their
focuses to high-tech and engineering products.
"Now we are trying to solve all these problems and to speed up
procedures to see opportunities for exporting high-tech products to
the Eurasian Economic Union countries," he said.
It is very important in exporting high-tech products to settle all
customs formalities quickly, he added.
Armenia had more than 380 IT companies in early January 2014. Of
them, 159 operate with foreign capital or represent large foreign
companies here.
The country's IT sector accounts for 20-25% growth every year. The
sector's share in GDP is 3.8%. In accordance with the IT development
strategy, this industry's turnover is planned to be increased to $1
