AUTISTIC CHILDREN GET NEW REHABILITATION CENTER

World Autism Awareness Day has been observed on 2 April year since
2008.
On this occasion, the training and rehabilitation center 'My Way'
has opened a diurnal social rehabilitation center. The building was
completely renovated with the sponsorship of the Yerevan Municipality,
Ministry of Education and Science and Armenian General Benevolent Union
(AGBU).
Participating in the opening ceremony were Yerevan Mayor Taron
Margaryan, ministers, AGBU managers, autistic children and their
parents, led by Armenia's First Lady Rita Sargsyan.
Mrs Sargsyan noted she is happy for the children and their mothers.
According to her, the program could fail but for mothers.
"They were our muse. We have a school, but it is only half of our
project," Mrs Sargsyan said.
Armenia's Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan noted that
everyone united round the idea of creating the best conditions for
each child.
Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan stressed that many people were
pessimistic about the project.
"I can assure you we will always support the center and do our best.
When we visited the construction site a year ago, the parents raised
the problem of enlarging the center. We promised to discuss the problem
with the government and received their consent," Mr Margaryan said.
