Putin Will Land in Gyumri on April 23

Two weeks are left till April 24, and there is not an official
confirmation whether Putin will attend the centenary of the Armenian
Genocide. There are hints that Putin will come to Armenia soon but it
is hard to tell what the format of the visit will be. Putin's
spokesman Peskov stated, however, about high-level participation of
    Russia in Turkey on April.

Experts do not rule out that the Kremlin is working on crafty plans to
make sure that Putin will visit Armenia by all means but at the same
time Moscow underlines its loyalty to the Russian-Turkish agreements
    on the division of Armenia.

The simplest but most probable scenario is that Putin will arrive in
Armenia on April 23 and Turkey will leave for Turkey in the morning of
April 24 to attend the celebrations of the victory in Gallipoli.

However, the visit to Armenia must be arranged in a way as to make
sure that it becomes an establishment of Russia's imperial rights in
the region rather than a recognition of the fault of Turkey and Russia
in the genocide and displacement of Armenians.

Therefore, Putin, like in 2013, may land in Gyumri, not Yerevan. There
is information that the Airport of Gyumri is preparing to receive the
high-ranking guests. In addition, they may organize events in Gyumri
to mark his visit, and they will convey the message that Russia has
always been and will continue to be on this land, even if it is at the
    expense of the Armenians.

For example, on Putin's visit events may be organized in the Russian
base and on the Hill of Honor in Gyumri. In 2014, for example, the
210thanniversary of the Russian military base in Gyumri was
celebrated. In other words, Russia celebrated its "historical" right
to military presence in the region.

In 2010, the Hill of Honor was opened in Gyumri on the occasion of
Dmitry Medvedev's visit where the Russian soldiers killed in the
Russian-Turkish wars in the 19th century are buried. In addition, it
was announced that they were killed to save the Armenians from being
    killed by Turks.

Hence, Putin may arrive in Gyumri and announce that Russia is present
on this land for two centuries, defends and will continue to defend it
because the blood of Russian soldiers was shed on this blood. Russia
will not give up on this land, even to the Armenians.

After such statements Putin may not visit Tsitsernakaberd and may
    directly leave for Turkey.
