Thirty-two percent of the population is poor, according to a newspaper
in Armenia
Thirty-two percent of the population of Armenia is 967,000 people are
in poverty Haykakan Zhamanak newspaper says.
The paper said that the National Statistics Service is the only body
responsible for determining the levels of poverty in the country and
that it is the NSS calculations that are used to give an idea about
the current level of poverty.
Its calculations NSS interviewed 5184 households.
Depending on the service, 32% of the population of Armenia incomes
below 39,193 drams, with extreme poverty line at 39,318 drams in 2013
the newspaper said.
13.3% or 402,000 persons have an even lower income and 2.7% or 82,000
persons are considered extremely poor with a monthly income of 22,993
drams only (data 2013).
