Monday continued Preliminary hearing on the case of Armenian POW
Armen Baghdasaryan continued
in the Baku Serious Crimes Court. He was captured on December 26,
2014, and is accused of preparing terrorist attacks and sabotage
against Azerbaijan. The trial was held behind closed doors. It is
impossible to get comment before a court or a lawyer. The trial was
attended by members of the local television channel Kapaz TV.
According to information of this media, Bagdasarian did not deny the
charges against him. Moreover, he made statements and appeals of a
political nature. In particular, he called to liberate the occupied
Azerbaijani territories, return of Azerbaijani prisoners of war. He
also expressed satisfaction with the attitude to him and thanked the
President of Azerbaijan for this; he said that there was not pressure
on him, and he says it on his own. The trial is scheduled for April 20.
The Armenian side claims that at the time of captivity Baghdasaryan
did not serve in the army. -02D-
