Bozkir says Francis's homeland Argentina 'welcomed the Nazis'
: Ankara
(ANSA) - April 13 - Turkey's Minister for European Affairs Volkan
Bozkir on Monday launched a personal attack against Pope Francis
after the pontiff referred to mass murders in Armenia. Bozkir said
the Argentine-born pope's homeland "welcomed the Nazis" adding the
Armenian diaspora there "is dominant in the world of printing and
business" giving it great influence. Turkey was furious after the pope
on Sunday spoke of a 1915 "genocide" in Armenia by the Ottoman Empire.
Turkey contends that deaths were caused by a civil conflict.
