DEMOCRATIC HOMELAND PARTY: ANY PROCESS THAT IS NOT CONTROLLED BY THE REGIME IS PERCEIVED AS THREAT

The arrest of the members of the Founding Parliament opposition
movement fits the political course followed by the acting regime,
the outcome of which was the bloodshed of March 1, 2008. It seemed
that in 2011 and 2012 the regime refrained from prosecuting people
for their political views but the post-election developments in 2013
showed that nothing had changed, the Democratic Homeland Party said
in a statement issued on April 17.
"Any political process that he [Srzh Sargsyan] cannot keep under
control is perceived as a threat by the regime. As a result, we all
witnessed inadequate actions against Shant Harutyuynyan and his friends
in November 2013, against a group of young people who started street
protests following the brutal murder of a seven-member family in Gyumri
in January 2015, we witnessed the split of the Prosperous Armenia
Party (BHK) in February 2015 and the arrest of Founding Parliament
members. Ordering the arrest of the FP activists, the regime has
not only added the number of political prisoners in the country,
but also undermined the token of April 24.
We apply to our citizens and intellectuals, political forces that
are not controlled by the ruling authorities to sober up and avert
the victorious tour of the criminal and oligarchic regime that is
devouring our country," read the statement.
