Armenia's membership in the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) opens a big
market to IT specialists, according to the Synopsis Armenia company's
executive director.
"Orders may come from the other three EEU countries, and our Armenian
programmers may fulfill them here in Armenia," Hovik Muysaelyan told
Tert.am, pointing out to a dynamic decrease of brain drain in the
sector.
He stressed the need of government effort towards making the IT
industries more marketable to motivate the domestic specialists. As an
important step, Musaelyan praised the government's mortgage loan
program, which he said offers great opportunities to programmers.
"That means that employees in the IT sector receive high salaries and
can, as a matter of fact, borrow loans from banks with a zero percent
interest rate for purchasing apartments because IT specialists do have
apartment-related problems despite the high salary. Even if a husband
and wife working in an IT company receive a high salary, they will
have difficulty acquiring an apartment of their own," Musaelyan said,
adding that the program allows banks to borrow interest rates from the
state themselves to pay off the loans.
According to him, the project would offer good opportunities also to
property developers. "As a result, it will promote job creation;
people will borrow mortgage loans. The banks will work more actively,
with people staying here to purchase apartments ," he said, noting
that few of those who get high salaries actually leave Armenia.
