The Ambassador of the United States of America Visits Antelias
Antelias - 8 January 2015. On Thursday morning, on the occasion of the
New Year, Ambassador David Hale, accompanied by the Political Attaché,
visited His Holiness Aram I. They discussed the situation in the region
and the presidential elections in Lebanon. His Holiness also informed
the ambassador of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide and the
commemorative activities.

Antelias - 9 January 2015. On Friday morning, Archbishops Paul Sayah
and Samir Mazloum, the Vicar Generals of the Maronite Church, met with
His Holiness Aram I. After conveying Patriarch Rai's greetings for the
New Year, they transmitted his concerns regarding the situation in the
region to the Catholicos. Discussions then led them to an overview of
the situation in Lebanon and the status of presidential elections. The
two clergy informed His Holiness of a meeting to be held in the Vatican
in February to discuss Christians in the Middle East and asked for his
views.
His Holiness Aram I presents his condolences to the President of France,
François Hollande
Antelias - 10 January 2015. Yesterday, in his letter of condolence
addressed to President François Hollande on behalf of the Armenian
Catholicosate of Cilicia, His Holiness Aram I condemned the recent
terrorist acts in Paris, and stated, `Our Church strongly believes in
mutual understanding, respect and tolerance between religions, is
committed to justice and to the peaceful resolution of conflict rooted
in the principles of human rights. Based on these convictions our Church
nurtures interreligious dialogue.' The Catholicos concluded his letter
by asking the President to transmit his condolences to the families of
the victims and the people of France.
