KREMLIN LOBBYING ABKHAZIAN RAILWAY LINK RESTORATION - NEWSPAPER
YEREVAN, January 13./ARKA/. Secret negotiations over resumption of
Moscow-Sukhumi-Tbilisi-Yerevan railway route are under way in Moscow,
Novoe Vremya reports referring to Georgia Online.
Ucha Mamatsashvili, cousin of Georgia's former premier and billionaire
Bidzina Ivanishvili, is negotiating now with Russian President Vladimir
Putin's Advisor Vladislav Surkov.
Ivanishvili raised this issue yet when he visited Armenia as prime
minister and met with the Armenian president. When Russia signed an
allied agreement with Abkhazia, President Putin unveiled this very
plan of Kremlin.
It is specified in a separate provision that this transportation link
will be restored if Georgia and Armenia give their consent.
The signing of this document would mean recognition of Abkhazia's
independence by Georgia, since in this document Abkhazia will be
presented as an independent entity. ---0-----
