AMBASSADOR GRATEFUL TO ARMENIA FOR GREEK GENOCIDE CONDEMNING DRAFT STATEMENT

    14:23, 13 January, 2015

YEREVAN, JANUARY 13, ARMENPRESS: On January 13 the Deputy Speaker of
the National Assembly (NA) of the Republic of Armenia (RA) Eduard
Sharmazanov met with Ioannis Tais, Ambassador Extraordinary and
Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Armenia.

The press service of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia
told Armenpress that the RA NA Vice President Eduard Sharmazanov
assessed the level of the Armenian-Greek relations effective in 2014.

The NA Vice President once again expressed gratitude to the Greek
parliament for passing the resolution condemning the Armenian Genocide.

In this context Eduard Sharmazanov has informed that he has undertaken
with his colleagues a NA draft statement against genocidal policy of
the Ottoman Empire, which also refers to the massacred Greeks. The
interlocutors highlighted the adoption of the NA Statement in terms
    of international condemnation of Genocides.

The interlocutors also discussed issues of mutual interest, touched
upon the regulation of NK conflict, and spotlighted the further
development and rapprochement of interparliamentary ties.

The RA NA Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov, touching upon the
issues of the NK conflict, expressed its resentment on Azerbaijani
destructive and misanthropic policy, taking into account the recent
    subversive actions that inflicted casualties.

The Ambassador Tais thanked for the initiative of the NA statement,
touched upon the NK conflict settlement, mentioning that Greece sees
the settlement of the problem within the framework of the OSCE Minsk
    Group exclusively through peaceful means.
