Russian soldier Valeri Permyakov, who is suspected of murdering the
Avetisyan family in Gyumri and injuring a 6-month-old baby, will
certainly receive deserved punishment, Karine Achemyan, a Republican
Party of Armenia (RPA) parliamentary group member, told Tert.am.
"Fortunately, the man was detained at the border and I have no doubt
he will receive the deserved punishment," she said.
Chairman of the Helsinki Committee of Armenia Avetik Ishkhanyan says:
"Of course, he is only an accused now, but, with presumption of
innocence put aside, I think that an Armenian court must sentence him
to life imprisonment. I do not think it would be right to transport
him to another country, particularly to Russia. Let us wait for
further developments."
