CHORRORD ISHKANUTYUN: RUSSIAN SOLDIERS URGED TO SHUN PUBLIC IN GYUMRI
09:30 * 16.01.15
The paper says it has learned from sources that the servicemen of
the Russian military base stationed in Gyumri have been banned from
appearing to public following the recent deadly raid against a family.
An instruction issued after the tragic incident which left six people
brutally killed by a Russian serviceman on Monday, reportedly allows
those who have families to spend the night at home, obliging the
servicemen who are single to sleep in the military unit to avoid
possible negative public sentiments. The 102nd military base has
banned all its servicemen to walk around the city or visit places of
entertainment, says the paper, adding that a secondary school under
the Russian Consulate General has been temporarily shut down.
No children are to be seen in the city's Russian district, while
servicemen's spouses avoid going to stores, asking instead their
Armenian friends to do the shopping instead of them.
