Armenian Band Rescued from a Mountain Hold by French Warship - The
    Ottawa Evening Journal - September 22, 1915

    16:03, 19 Jan 2015
    Siranush Ghazanchyan

The Canadian press reported on the Armenians in the Ottoman Empire as
early as the 19th century. Canadians became informed about the
conditions Armenians lived in and the violence they faced during the
1895-96 Hamidian Massacres, the 1909 Adana Massacres and the 1915-1923
Armenian Genocide, the Horizon Weeklly reports.

On September 22, 1915, The Ottawa Evening Journal reported on the
rescue of the Armenians on Moussa Dagh, the story of which was
popularized through Franz Werfel's novel Forty Days of Musa Dagh.
"Three thousand had held out against Turkish pursuers for over month
and a half, when they were rescued."
