Armenia adheres to the policy of deepening all-round cooperation with
the European Union, taking into account, however, that it has other
obligations as well, said Armenian Foreign Minister Edvard Nalbandian.
"We have discussed the framework of the future legal basis for our
relations. I reaffirmed our adherence to the policy of deepening
our comprehensive cooperation with the European Union, guided by
the achievements of the past few years in all directions and fields,
and taking due account of our obligations under other international
integration formats," Nalbandian said at a press conference after
the 15th meeting of the Armenia-EU Cooperation Council in Brussels,
according to the Armenian Foreign Ministry's press service.
He said Armenia-EU cooperation in the sphere of mobility, migration
and human contacts ranks among the priority aspects of Armenia's
cooperation with the EU.
"An agreement with the EU on relaxed visa travel and readmission took
effect in January 2014. We plan to begin the next stage in the dialogue
on visas, aimed at Armenian citizens' visa-free travel. A protocol to
the agreement on partnership and cooperation came into force in 2014,
which gave Armenians an opportunity to join a number of EU programs
and to cooperate with EU agencies," the Armenian foreign minister said.
