The health condition of Armenian serviceman Hovhannes Avanesyan, who
was wounded in the attack by Azerbaijani special units on January 23,
remains critical, Aram Asaturyan, head of the Central Clinical
Military Hospital of the Armenian Defense Ministry, told Panorama.am.

"He remains in critical but stable condition," Asaturyan said, adding
that it is positive that his condition has not worsened.

The serviceman will undergo a spinal surgery after his condition
    stabilizes, he said.

On January 23, Azerbaijani special units attacked several military
positions in Berd, Tavush province. Armenian forces detected the enemy
in time. Fighting took place. It lasted about 30 minutes. Suffering
casualties, the enemy was thrown back. Two Armenian servicemen were
killed. Hovhannes Avanesyan suffered a serious injury. He underwent
surgery in the hospital of Berd.
