Protestors demand OSCE mission leave Armenia

    18:00 / 29.01.2015

A protest rally has been conducted today at the OSCE Yerevan Office
entitled "OSCE silent sponsor of Azerbaijani aggression". The action
did not have inner political pre-context. It was a demand to the OSCE
to leave Armenia as it does not carry out its mission here.

Initiator of the event Karen Vardanyan first stressed that the
situation on the border is being provoked by the Azerbaijani side but
the OSCE as an institution which has assumed the role of the observer
of cease-fire regime and is the mediator in the Karabakh conflict
settlement does not do anything. "From time to time the OSCE Minsk
Group co-chairs are making formal statements but they have never come
up with clear, real assessment of the Azerbaijani provocations. I
think they know very well that it is Azerbaijan which provokes
    clashes," he said.

Another participant of the rally Arshak Arzikyan said that the OSCE
either does not want or fails to undertake any measures for giving
worthy assessment to the Azerbaijani provocations and attacks. "A
question rises why their presence is necessary in Armenia. If they
have a concrete role in this issue, they must implement it if not they
    must leave," he said.
The organizers of the event handed to the OSCE Yerevan Office
representative their letter-complaint which said that unless the OSCE
does not voice proper assessment to the Azerbaijani actions becoming
the silent sponsor of Azerbaijan its presence in Armenia is senseless
    and it should leave Armenia.
