Turkey is the first to be responsible for politicizing the issue of
Armenian Genocide, Ruben Safrastyan, Director of the Institute of
Oriental Studies, Armenian National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), told
Tert.am as he commented on Turkish FM Mevlüt ÇavuÅ?oÄ?lu's statement
that Armenia and the Armenian lobby have intensified their efforts in
the third countries and do not accept Turkey's proposals.
`If Turkey had admitted and condemned the Armenian Genocide in due
time, the issue would not have been politicized. Since it has not done
this step so far, the Armenian people, Armenia and Armenians
throughout the world are struggling for recognition and condemnation
of the Armenian Genocide, as well as for restitution. So it is
Turkey's guilt that the issue has been politicized,' Mr Safrastyan
said.
Turkey will spare no efforts to distort the facts and have that
atrocity consigned into oblivion, he added.
