ARMENIA'S ACCESSION TO EURASIAN ECONOMIC UNION BACKED BY 64 PERCENT OF POPULATION- SURVEY
YEREVAN, March 2. / ARKA /. More than half of Armenian citizens support
their country's accession to the Russia-led Eurasian Economic Union
(EEU), a public opinion poll found.
The survey conducted by Gallup International Association office in
Armenia in 2014 November involved 1,067 respondents. Some 64 percent
backed one way or another decision of the country's leadership to
make Armenia a member of EEU.
Asked whether the country's accession to EEU was desirable, 11% of
respondents said a definite 'yes- and 53% said 'rather yes.' These
findings were announced today by the head of Gallup International
Association in Armenia Aram Navasardyan.
According to him, these figures roughly coincide with the results of
a previous study conducted in August 2014.
Armenia formally joined the trade bloc on January 1, 2015.-0-
