Ex Nature Protection Minister Vardan Ayvazyan (2001-2007) urges that
Chinese "Fortune Oil" Company hasn't refused from the iron mines in
Armenia, the assets of which it purchased in 2011 through the shares
of "Nagin" Company owned by the Ex Minister. During "R-Evolution"
program on 01.03.2015 I his interview with presenter Satik Seyranyan
    Vardan Ayvazyan particularly said,

S.S.: Whether an investor was found for the iron mines, where you
own shares, as the Chinese company had refused from them.

V.A.: No, they didn't get upset. They keep on working.

S.S.: But you mentioned it in the last program.

V.A.: Yes, they stopped, but they own the shares - "Fortune Oil",
while my son Vardan owns only 20%. If I owned the shares, I would
congratulate myself with such a gift.

S.S.: That is, does the investment program continue?

V.A.: Yes, it continues, as they ("Fortune Oil"), under the information
I have, intend to buy a plant in Rustavi (Georgia) for the development,
i.e. the plant will be operated based on the Armenian raw material,
thus we will be monopolists in exporting iron," the quotation finishes.

EcoLur reminds that "Fortune Oil" was going to construct the
infrastructures of the enterprise in 2012 and to proceed to the
production of iron in 2014. First, the company faced public opposition,
then the company detected at the public hearings organized by Nature
Protection Ministry that its package of permitting documentation for
Hrazdan iron mine development was expired and its mining should pass
through the area of water springs supplying water to Hrazdan Town
an partially to Yerevan. "Healthy Hrazdan" initiative presented its
    opinion on the risks:
