RELATIVES OF THE AVETISYAN FAMILY CHANGE ADVOCATES

The relatives of the Avetisyan family killed on January 12 are still
waiting. After the press conference in Yerevan they were persuaded
to refrain from organizing demonstrations and were asked to wait for
several days until Gevorg Kostanyan has something to tell them. Rita
Petrosyan, the victims' successor, confirmed that they are waiting for
Kostanyan's answer. She said they have information that in answer to
MP Postanjyan's letter the Russian Prosecutor General's Office has
announced that the accused is a citizen of Russia and the Russian
side will not hand him to the Armenian law enforcement bodies.
"We don't know anything about it. We are waiting for Kostanyan. We, my
sister's daughters had been asked to refrain from demonstrations. The
kids called me and told me to wait. They promised to say something
in 3-4 days," the victim's successor said.
Ms Rita denied rumors that they had been intimidated, threatened. "Not
at all. They cannot intimidate us. I have already lost what I would
be afraid to lose. I can't forget the view of my sister's blood. We
will not exchange anyone with my sister's blood. We are not a family
that keeps quiet, simply our kids want so, and we are doing what they
want," Rita Petrosyan says.
She is aware of the Russian media publications and has heard that
Permyakov will be tried in Rostov. She says it won't do.
"Why would they take him to Rostov? We are the victim's successor,
we have not encountered the Russian side, they are investigating the
case but we have never acted as successor. We are for slow but quality
work, we hope that with the help of the new advocates a better job
will be done to reveal this case."
She informed that they have waived advocate Yerem Sargsyan, and a
new group of advocates will start dealing with this case. "I wasn't
satisfied with Yerem Sargsyan's work, therefore I wanted to have a
new group of advocates to work."
Note that Lusine Sahakyan and Yervand Varosyan, members of the Chamber
of Advocates, will be dealing with this case.
Lusine Sahakyan confirmed to Lragir.am that they will start on 4
March 2015. She said she would share details with reporters only
after taking up the case.
