TRABZON POLICE INTELLIGENCE CHIEF INTENTIONALLY PAVED WAY FOR DINK MURDER

By misdirecting Ä°stanbul police from finding Yasin Hayal, the person
responsible for the assassination of Armenian journalist Hrant Dink,
Trabzon Police Intelligence Chief Engin Dinc paved the way for
the murder.
New evidence reveals that the intelligence report sent to the Ä°stanbul
Police Department by Police Intelligence Bureau Chief Engin Dinc, back
when he was posted in Trabzon, misdirected their search and paved the
way for the assassination of Armenian-Turkish journalist Hrant Dink.
Dink, the Editor-in-Chief of bilingual Armenian and Turkish daily
Agos, was assassinated outside his office by 17-year-old Turkish
nationalist Ogun Samast upon the direction of direction of and with
a weapon supplied by nationalist Yasin Hayal.
The Feb. 17, 2006 report sent by Intelligence Chief Dinc to the
Ä°stanbul police revealed the Trabzon-resident Yasin Hayal was
interested in assassinating Dink, that it was within his capacity to
do so, and that he'd be visiting his brother Osman Hayal in Ä°stanbul.
The Ä°stanbul police conducted an investigation in and around the
address provided by Dinc, but were unable to locate Osman Hayal and
so the search was called off, paving the way for the assassination.
It has been revealed that the prosecutor investigating the Dink case
was in possession of the incriminating document implicating Dinc,
but no actions were taken against the intelligence chief. It was
also revealed that Dinc had hidden that particular document from
the Trabzon police chief at the time, Ramazan Akyurek, who has been
arrested over the case.
