ARMENIA'S AIRPORTS HANDLE 234,792 PASSENGERS IN TWO MONTHS

YEREVAN, March 5, /ARKA/. Armenia's international airport Zvartnots
in Yerevan and Shirak airport in the second largest town of Gyumri
handled 234,792 passengers in the first two months of this year,
virtually as many as in the first two months of 2014, Armenia's Chief
    Civil Aviation Department said today.

It said some 123,164 people left the country through the airports in
the first two months of the year, down from 123,403 in the same period
last year, and 111,628 passengers arrived, up from 111,484 in 2014.

The number of those who left the country in January and February
2015 was by 11,536 more than those who arrived. In 2014 the negative
    balance was 11,919.

The amount of cargo transported by air traffic was 1,046 metric tons,
and the number of takeoffs and landings was 1,355.

Zvartnots and Shirak airports are run by Armenia-International
Airports, a company owned by an Argentine citizen of Armenian descent
Eduardo Eurnekian. In 2001 the company signed a concessional agreement
with the government to manage the airports for 30 years. -0 -
