Glamour and style were on full display at the Glendale Hilton Hotel
on Saturday for the Armenian Relief Society, Sepan Chapter's 28th
annual Fashion Show fundraiser, according to the Glendale News Press.
About 400 people packed the hotel's ballroom to check out the latest
styles from local designers Lourdes Chavez and Vicken Derderian.
The show is the largest fundraiser for the Glendale-based chapter,
with proceeds going toward "wherever the need is," said event
co-chair Christine Hovnanian, which includes, local, regional and
global humanitarian causes.
"The proceeds of this event will be provided to individuals and
families in need, for their education and cultural necessities,"
Hovnanian said.
In the past, the Sepan Chapter, part of the Armenian Relief Society's
Western regional network, also based in Glendale, has supported
the Salvation Army's holiday food and gift distribution programs,
homeless services and the YWCA of Glendale.
The fashion show generates between $35,000 and $50,000, according
to Lena Bozoyan, member and former chair of the local and regional
chapters.
Drawing from a large Armenian community in Glendale and the greater
Los Angeles area, the Sepan chapter is one of the society's largest
and most active, Bozoyan said. The fashion show is one of the marquee
annual events that many members circle on their calendars.
