HELPER OF THOSE FEW CHANGING ARMENIA

Ruben Vardanyan, the chairman of IDeA Foundation which implements
development programs in Armenia, while launching the 100 LIVES project
with Armenian and foreign celebrities, stated that one must be able
to surprise the world with new ideas and new approaches, turning the
centenary of the genocide to not just a memorial ceremony but also a
start of new life, an opportunity to appear to the world with a new
face and new qualities.
This idea is becoming more and more popular among the Armenians. Ruben
Vardanyan is making a lot of effort for its spread and implementation
both inside and outside Armenia. Fortunately, he is not alone. There
are other Armenians, citizens of Armenia, whether famous or not,
millionaires, billionaires or just distinguished and renowned for
their professionalism who are trying to create the new face, the
new image of Armenia and make Armenia recognizable not only in the
context of the Armenian issue but to fit the Armenian issue within
the context of making Armenia recognizable.
So far there has been a situation when the Armenian issue served the
purpose of making Armenia and the Armenians recognizable in the world
and to attract attention. Armenia did not benefit much from this,
whether in USSR or after it, in terms of the Armenian issue.
Now the objective has matured - to fit the Armenian issue within the
framework of Armenia, within the framework of the role and place of
Armenia to make sure that Armenia with its new place, role and face
is able to serve the Armenian issue effectively, becoming a means
for the Armenians worldwide. This is the key to the strengthening,
competitiveness and effectiveness of the Armenian state.
Therefore, Armenia should first appear to the world with its new image,
potential, role, ideas which will have a global context and will be
evidence to the willingness and potential of the Armenian people to
participate in the life of the world.
Armenia had two decades to resolve this problem. In addition, not
only the independence itself but the historical setting was beneficial.
Armenia, the Armenian people took a successful start through the
movement for Artsakh and the universal ideas underlying that movement.
The war in Artsakh was a tough test but the Armenian people passed it
with honors, making big sacrifices and demonstrating their commitment
to advocacy of universal values, their decision to live, create and
be guided by them. In other words, the Armenian people demonstrated
their commitment and ability to have the least but important and
sustainable contribution to the global history.
It is not accidental that all through this period the Armenians enjoyed
sympathy in the world and were perceived as an isle of democracy
though this is a very narrow interpretation because it was about its
perception as an isle of civilization.
However, during the forthcoming years the "water" has covered the
isle. The years that followed were years of wasting this invaluable
reputation. Armenia was losing its status of a valuable participant
of the civilization.
Now the situation is such that everyone has to talk that Armenia must
solve the problem of appearing to the world with new assets otherwise
it will be impossible to resolve any other key issue of national
importance. The creators of the new face and new content of Armenia,
the new message to be addressed to the world are very few. However,
these few people have a key helper - time which is working for them.
