Zhoghovurd: Armenian mining enterprise enjoying wide privileges

A mining and processing enterprise based in the town of Akhtala (Lori
region) is said to have been enjoying wide privileges in the past
couple of years.
Citing its sources, the paper says that serious violations revealed by
inspections conducted back in 2013 and 2014 did not entail any fines
or penalties. The paper notes that the Zangezour Copper-Molybdenum
Plant's former director, Maxim Hakobyan, has been in charge of this
enterprise in the past two years, officially undertaking control of
its activities since late-2014.
"Maxim Hakobyan is a person standing very close to the Armenian
authorities, as he provided them with ballot-papers with the necessary
ticks during all the elections. It is beyond doubt that Hakpbyan is
very well familiar with the authorities, especially with the ways of
reaching for the 'heart strings' of Yervand Zakharyan, the minister of
energy and natural resources. That's probably the reason the
violations never turned into fines, remaining hanging in the air,"
writes the paper.
