SHARMAZANOV: KARABAKH INDEPENDENCE HAS NO ALTERNATIVE

"We all should realize that the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic's
independence has no alternative." Armenian National Assembly (NA) Vice
President Eduard Sharmazanov, who also heads the NA Armenia-Latvia,
Lithuania and Estonia Parliamentary Friendship Group, noted the
aforesaid at his talk Monday with Lithuanian parliamentarians.
At the request of the Lithuanian Seimas (Parliament) representatives,
the Armenian parliament deputy speaker also reflected on the
Nagorno-Karabakh peace process.
"Both the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Artsakh [i.e.
Nagorno-Karabakh] support an exclusively peaceful settlement of the
Karabakh issue," Sharmazanov said. "The settlement of the Karabakh
issue is not a territorial dispute between Armenia and Azerbaijan,
but rather a struggle for the implementation of the people of Artsakh's
right to self-determination."
