10:34, 17 March, 2015
YEREVAN, 17 MARCH, 2015: Heidi Hautala, the co-chairperson of
"Euronest" Parliamentary Assembly, during Armenia's Public Television's
"Interview" program, admitted that the visit to the "Tsitsernakaberd"
Memorial was very impressive and the impressions were deep. As
"Armenpress" reports, reflecting to the international recognition of
the Armenian Genocide, Hautala highlighted, that European Parliament
will adopt the resolution on the 100th anniversary of Armenian
Genocide. "This is really is a very essential event, and I hope that
it will provide a chance to Turkey to face its past, and this will
give an opportunity to historians and scientists to study deeper this
historic event," the European official stated.
The TV anchor noted that the fact of the Armenian Genocide actually
does not need study and asked what prevents European countries to
make more courageous statements, Ms. Hautala said that in 1987, the
European Parliament adopted a resolution on the Armenian Genocide and
it is really very important. "I believe that Turkey should be able to
reconcile and accept its history. When the sides reach an agreement,
this will provide an opportunity for more positive developments in
future and the establishment of relations between the sides," Heidi
Hautala emphasized.
