MP Tevan Poghosyan predicts signing of new EU-Armenia cooperation
agreement at summit in Riga or afterwards

    15:51, 21 March, 2015

YEREVAN, 21 MARCH, ARMENPRESS. After the plenary session of EURONEST
Parliamentary Assembly and the session of the EU-Armenia Parliamentary
Cooperation Committee, Deputy of the National Assembly Tevan Poghosyan
said he got the impression that the EU is ready to continue its
dialogue with Armenia. During a March 21 press conference, the MP
responded to "Armenpress"'s question and that during their meetings
with Armenian deputies, the EU delegates mentioned several times that
the sides have already exchanged views and that the delegates will now
work more quickly to address the European Commission to receive the
mandate to launch negotiations with Armenia.

Tevan Poghosyan reminded that since September 3rd when the President
of the Republic of Armenia declared that Armenia was choosing the path
to the Eurasian Economic Union, he had always said that Armenia could
at least sign the political component of the Associated Agreement
    since there are no discrepancies.

The MP also expressed his satisfaction with the fact that the EU
representatives had said they would not only lead political
negotiations with Armenia, but would also set aside a large economic
sector that would provide the opportunity to deepen economic
cooperation. He noted that at this moment, both the EU representatives
and the Armenian government want to continue to cooperate. The MP also
voiced hope that the two sides would show political will that would
lead to the signing of a new agreement on cooperation if not during
the EU Eastern Partnership Summit in Riga, then at least after that.
