Karabakh: Video with Armenian serviceman surrendering "staged"

Major-General Arkady Ter-Tadevosyan, a prominent Karabakh war veteran
known as Komandos, considers trustworthy the Karabakh Defense Army
(DA) statement that the footage showing Armenian serviceman Andranik
Grigoryan crossing the Line of Contact was "staged".

"I'm sure that the DA statement coincides with the truth, the DA does
not lie to the public, I'm sure, otherwise people will not trust it,"
he told reporters Tuesday, adding that there is nothing surprising
and Azerbaijan has always spread false information.

On Sunday, the DA said that on March 22 Andranik Grigoryan, a
serviceman from an unidentified military base, for yet unclear reasons
left his arms and ammunition at the military post and crossed the
frontline, appearing on the opponent's side, and the Azerbaijani press
posted two videos. One shows how the Armenian serviceman approaches
the Azerbaijani positions with a white flag. In another video the
serviceman claims that he left the Armenian positions voluntarily
because of being ill-treated by fellow servicemen.

Communication Programs Director of the International Committee of
the Red Cross Yerevan office Zara Amatuni said that the Red Cross is
aware of the incident and is taking up corresponding measures.

"According to our commitments, we follow, we are in negotiations with
    relevant government officials," Amatuni said.

As for the border tensions, Komandos thinks that toward April 24
there will be more provocations on the border and along the Line of
Contact in Karabakh not in one or two, but in numerous directions.

"I think that by the end of April the Azeris will cease these actions.

They are trying to find our weak points," said the Karabakh war
    veteran.

Social media have also addressed the issue. Analyst Stepan Safaryan
wrote on his Facebook account: "If the trespasser was in an unstable
mental state, and it was noticed by others, then the question is why
he was on the border. And if not, then the video is very suspicious
reminding more of a staged video. An articulate and convincing
explanation on this case is a must."
