KURDISH COMMUNITY OF ARMENIA IS GRATEFUL TO ARMENIA'S PRESIDENT

    14:38, 24 March, 2015

YEREVAN, 24 MARCH, ARMENPRESS. Armenia's Kurdish community is grateful
to the President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan for highly
appreciating the community and congratulating on the national holiday.

The head of the Armenia's Kurdish community Knyaz Hasanov stated
this during the event dedicated to the Kurdish National Holiday
Newroz. "In Kurdish Newroz means "new day". The Newroz is one of the
oldest holidays of the Kurdish people, which is still celebrated from
pagan times. That day, the Kurds burn embers and eat, drink, rejoice,
dance, sing around the fire. Later, when the national liberation
struggle of the Kurdish people started, headed by Abdullah Ocalan,
this holiday was reviewed, reformed and became a symbol of national
liberation struggle of the Kurdish people," as "Armenpress" reports
    Knyaz Hasanov underlined.
