    NEW PRIEST NAMED TO LEAD ARMENIAN PARISH

    The Rev. Serovpe Alanjian has been named the parish priest for the
    Armenian Apostalic Church of Ventura County, which meets at St.

    Patrick's Episcopal Church, 1 Church Road, Thousand Oaks.

    The new priest, 41, served the local parish as a deacon since 2008
    while becoming a priesthood candidate of the Western Diocese of the
    Armenian Church.

    >From 2010-2013, Serovpe, who speaks four languages (Armenian, English,
    French and Arabic), attended St. John's Catholic Seminary in Camarillo
    where he earned a Masters of Art degree in pastoral ministry.

    He then participated in priesthood preparation courses at Gevorgian
    Theological Seminary at Holy Etchmiadzin, the seat of the Armenian
    Church in Yerevan, Armenia.

    He was ordained a priest on Oct. 7, 2014 during ceremonies at St Leon
    Armenian Cathedral in Burbank.

    Serovpe was born in Beirut, Lebanon, where he completed high school
    and college. He was trained and initially worked as a jewelry
    assembler. Because of Lebonon's economic instability, he switched
    careers to cellular communications technology working as a mobile
    phone technician then as a technical manager.

    In 2006, he immigrated to the United States where he met and married
    Arusyak Balikian. They have two children: a son, Krikor, 6, and
    daughter Natalie, 4.

    Beginning in April, Armenian Church services will be held every Sunday
    at 12:15 p.m. at St. Patrick's church.

    Easter week services are: Divine liturgy and washing of the feet
    at 5 p.m. on Thurs., April 2; Friday observance at 6 p.m. April 3;
    Easter Eve celebration at 5 p.m. Sat., April 4; and Easter services,
    12:15 p.m. Sun., April 5.
