The criminal case of Russian servicemen Valery Permyakov will be
handled by a military tribunal at the 102nd Russian military base
in Gyumri, Armenia, head of the State Duma Committee for CIS Affairs
Leonid Slutsky has announced.
"The military tribunal will be conducted in the grounds of the 102nd
base," he said answering questions from Armenian journalists in Gyumri
on Sunday after bringing flowers to seven graves of the Avetisian
family murdered by Permyakov on January 12.
Armenian journalists lamented the absence of information and asked
to tell them about the course of the investigation and the venue of
the trial.
Slutsky failed to answer the question whether the trial would be
open or closed to the public. He noted, though, that as a member of
parliament he would favor an open trial more.
