THE REPUBLICAN PARTY DID NOT SPLIT UP

The session of the Republican Party of Armenia finished. It finished with
the adoption of a resolution in which it is said, «The Republican Party
thinks that the Armenian turnover to true democracy will mean a democratic
revolution. Democratic Revolution means to eliminate the present
authorities, to form legal authorities by free and transparent elections and
to realize structural changes towards democratization».

BY the way, it is also mentioned in the resolution that Democratic
Revolution also means Armenian orientation towards the Western civilization,
and full integration of Armenia into the civilized world.

At the end of the session the elections of the party political council and
President took place. Not splitting took place as it was anticipated: both
Albert Bazeyan and Souren Sourentyants and Vagharshak Haroutyunyan remained
within the council. The political council remained unchanged with the
exception of Romik Mkhitaryan replacing Ghoukas Ulikhanyan. The former is
being haunted by the authorities and this was the best way to be protected.
And the President of the party was elected Aram Sargsyan, son of Zaven,
whose candidacy was offered by the ex-president Albert Bazeyan.
