The criticism of Armenia expressed in the annual human rights report
of the US Department of State is "exaggerated and one-sided", Armenian
Foreign Ministry spokesman Gamlet Gasparyan said in Yerevan today.
"The Armenian Foreign Ministry has attentively studied the
report. Taking into account serious links between economic and social
realities, the report clearly notes Armenia's stable transition to
market economy. The report also highlights the achievements and
shortcomings of the country in the human rights sphere last
year. Although the criticism is exaggerated and one-sided, it can
serve as a basis for achieving more progress in protecting human
rights and establishing civil society," Gamlet Gasparyan said.
