ROBERT KOCHARIAN: ANNOUNCEMENT OF 2005 A YEAR OF RUSSIA IN ARMENIA
OPENS WIDE OPPORTUNITIES FOR EXTENSION OF ARMENIAN-RUSSIAN CONTACTS
YEREVAN, MARCH 21, NOYAN TAPAN. "The decision to announce 2005 a
Year of Russia in Armenia opens wide opportunities for the further
extension of the Armenian-Russian contacts," RA President Robert
Kocharian's address to RF President Vladimir Putin read. This
initiative, the President emphasized, "will undoubtedly contribute to
complete realization of political, economic and cultural potential of
cooperation between our brotherly peoples." Robert Kocharian assured
that the holding of the Year of Russia in Armenia will permit to add
new ideas and projects to the agenda of Armenian-Russia cooperation.
"Armenians especially care for the Russian art and are looking
forward to meeting with the cultural figures of Russia. The contacts
of representatives of science and education, business associations of
our states, contacts at the regional level may have great practical
significance," the address read. RA President considers symbolic
that the holding of the Year of Russia in Armenia coincides with the
celebration of the 60th anniversary of victory over the Fascism.
"This heroic page of our common history mixed up the fates of our
peoples and made them closer." "Taking the opportunity, I want to
wish you, dear Vladimir Vladimirovich, good health and good luck
in your activity aimed at Russia's well-being and I wish peace,
happiness and prosperity to the brotherly Russian people," Robert
