16 YEARS AGO ARMENIA ADOPTED THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE

August 23, 1990 the Supreme Council of Armenia adopted the Declaration
of Independence.
"The adoption of the Declaration of Independence on August 23,
1990 is the expression of the centuries-old desires and aims of the
Armenian people, which were fulfilled a year later in the result of
the referendum conducted in September," says the message of RA Prime
Minister Andranik Margaryan issued on this occassion. "The Republic
of Armenia, established on part of our historical land is already 15,
and we are going to celebrate this important anniversary with a great
luxury. During the past 15 years our country has passed a road full
of difficulties and achievements. These difficulties, however, did not
devalue the idea of the most important and the greatest achievement -
the Independence," the Prime Minister continues.
"Congratulating on this important occasion, I'm confident that
out state and people will stably continue moving along the path of
independence and will stay loyal to the ideas of the basic points
provided for in the Declaration of Independence for the sake of the
future of our motherland and the Armenian nation," Andranik Margaryan
concludes.
