TURKISH ACADEMICS LAUNCH SIGNATURE COLLECTION CAMPAIGN APOLOGIZING TO ARMENIANS

Ankara (ANA-MPA / A. Ambatzis) -- An online signature collection
campaign was launched Monday by Turkish academics in support of a text
apologizing to Armenians for the 1915 "events" (Armenian genocide).
The text the Turkish people are being called to sign is posted on
the website "ozurdiliyoruz.com".
The initiative belongs to university professors Baskin Oran,
Cengiz Aktar, Ahmet Insel and Ali Bayramoglu and the campaign,
which is expected to last one year, has the support of 275 Turkish
intellectuals.
