ArmenAl was not closed and it is increasing its production growth
rates, NT correspondent was informed by Alexander Melkumian,
spokesman for foil rolling ArmenAl company making part of Rusal group
(Russia). To recap, at the December 17 press conference the member of
the Armenian National Congress (ANC) Vahagn Khachatrian said that there
is already an economic crisis in Armenia as all mining enterprises,
ArmenAl, etc, have been either closed or half-closed.
A. Melkumian said that the foil production grew by 3.2% to 9,740
tons at ArmenAl in January-October 2008 on the same period of last
year. In his opinion, the growth rates will remain the same. The
company currently employs over 700 people. ArmenAl's production is
exported to Europe, the U.S. and the Middle East.
