2009-2011 YEREVAN HEALTH SPHERE PROGRAM TO BE WORKED OUT THIS YEAR

YEREVAN, JANUARY 22, NOYAN TAPAN. The repairs of Yerevan's St. Gregory
the Illuminator and St. Mother of God medical centers being implemented
with the World Bank (WB) funds will be finished this year. As Armen
Soghoyan, the Head of the Health and Social Security Department of
Yerevan Mayor's Office, said at the January 21 press conference,
these hospitals will be also provided with modern medical equipment.
According to A. Soghoyan, the introduction of the family medicine
institution will continue in Yerevan this year. In his words, 81%
Yerevan's population has already chosen its healthcare primary link
doctor. 43 district doctors and 43 nurses will pass retraining within
the framework of the WB credit program this year. 427 family doctors
and 285 family nurses will work in Yerevan by the end of the year. It
was also mentioned that this year it is envisaged to strengthen ties
among the Ambulance service, polyclinics and hospitals, which will
contribute to patients' permanent treatment.
The head of the department also said that the 2009-2011 program of
Yerevan health sphere will be worked out this year.
